What if God was one of them

Nobody in their right mind truly believes that God is on the side of George W. Bush (key phrase: in their right mind). Still, this story out of northeasterm Pennsylvania causes us some concern. It was relayed to us by the DN's ace political writer, Dave Davies.

No small media market in the nation has been more in play in 2004 than Scranton, Pa. It's the first place that Bush headed after the RNC. So you can imagine that nobody on W.'s team would be eager for voters up there to see last night's broadcast of "60 Minutes II" -- you know, the one with all the memos about the future Prez and the National Guard.

At 8:12 p.m., less than halfway into the segment, a giant bolt of lightning hurtled down from the heavens and struck the broadcast tower for WYOU (Channel 22), the CBS affiliate in Scranton. The lighting strike high on Mount Penobscot knocked the station off the air, and it didn't come back until 9 p.m., when the show had just ended. Only certain cable customers saw the show in its entirety. However, the station has arranged a re-broadcast at a time when lots of viewers will likely see it.

At 2:07 a.m. On Saturday morning.

Really.

God is non-partisan, which you would never have known by watching the RNC; apparently God is just Ronald Reagans' mouthpiece in the skies. I would hope that God is against lying to your electorate, against bankrupting your economy, against polarizing the entire world with your disastrous foreign policy, or might be somewhat disturbed that after 2 controversial 'wars,' the perpetrators of 9/11 are not even being hunted. Can anyone in the US really believe that Bush and his sycophants have EARNED THE RIGHT TO BE RE-ELECTED? I naively thought that if you haven't done a good job in the last 4 years, you shouldn't expect the reward of another 4, but hey, if you wanna believe a vote for Kerry is a vote for terrorism, as so sleazily suggested by Cheney, then sure, go ahead and put in the most irritatingly ignorant and incompetent President in the history of your country. For those with an active brain, examine the White House record carefully, and vote with your head, not with your heart. Bush is death incarnate, and won't be happy until the entire world is enslaved to the Saudi's, whose support of Al Qaeda and bin Laden are obscenely obvious.
