This just in from the highly respected Rasmussen Reports:
In Pennsylvania, President George W. Bush now earns 49% of the vote while Senator John Kerry attracts 48%.
The latest Rasmussen Reports Pennsylvania survey represents quite a shift from our previous survey. Leading up to the Republican National Convention, Kerry was ahead of Bush by a 49% to 45% margin.
Pennsylvania is one of the largest Battleground states in Election 2004. Along with Michigan, Ohio, and Florida, it accounts for the bulk of the Electoral Votes that are currently in play and could go either way. Rasmussen Reports Premium Members receive daily Tracking Poll updates for these states.
Four years ago, Bush lost Pennsylvania's 21 Electoral College votes to Al Gore by five percentage points.
The current survey has no impact on our Electoral College projections--Pennsylvania was already in the Toss-Up category.
Fifty-two percent (52%) of Pennsylvania voters have a favorable opinion of President Bush. Fifty-three percent (53%) have a favorable opinion of Senator Kerry.
Forty-two percent (42%) believe the country is heading in the right direction. Fifty-five percent (55%) believe we have gotten off on the wrong track.
I believe Bush will win handily. It seems that all around the country the polls are moving in Bush's direction. I suspect it is not only the well run Republican convention, but I think the recent terrorist attacks in Russia have remind voters of threat we face. One may argue Kerry would be more effective fighting terrorism, but people are reluctant to change horses in the middle of a raging river. To put it another way, better the devil you know than the one you don’t.
I've seen snippets of Kerry speaking. I don't know if he’s just tired, has a health problem he’s keeping secret, it’s just his nature or has mentally conceded defeat. He says the words, but there’s just no passion. Listening to a Cheney speech has been likened to watching paint dry. But Kerry doesn’t seem to be much better.
Say what you will about Zell Miller and Al Sharpton, but at least they had passion.

Posted by: M at September 13, 2004 09:51 PMI think that Howard Zinn said it best, that with Bush we have no ledge to stand on. At least with Kerry we have a small ledge on which to stand.
I am mystified at what Kerry is doing. I can only hope he knows what he is doing.
Bush has f***ed up every single thing he has ever touched in his life.
Posted by: jim at September 14, 2004 08:23 AMJim,
During the Democratic convention Edwards did say that hope was on the way.
"people are reluctant to change horses in the middle of a raging river"
So why are we sitting on the Wrong horse in the middle of the Wrong river at the Wrong time, with people on both banks shooting at us and the roar of a huge flash flood coming at us from just up the canyon? Could it be we have the Wrong horseman? The real irony of this ridiculous metaphor is that Bush HATES horses! Maybe you meant 'we don't want to change gas-guzzling, muffler-less ATVs in the middle of what once was wilderness'.
Americans deserve the Idiot Boy, with or without the horse. He will make us all pay for our collective sins against the innocent Iraqis we've been slaughtering continuously since 1990. At least he'll enjoy a retirement with health benefits! (the horse, I mean: I expect Bush will be assassinated or die of progressive brain disease in the next 4 yrs; he's nearly outlived his usefulness to the cabal, and god forbid he should grow a conscience in his last term and strike out on his own; either way, they'll tell us he choked on a pretzel while watching NASCAR or somethin').
Posted by: bushwahd at September 14, 2004 12:01 PMBushwahd,
Are you saying that Bush SHOULD be assasinated?
Those who want change will show up and not just when they want to.
My dad would have kicked my a** had I not voted when I was younger. Let alone dishonoring the red, white and blue. Then I probably would have been sent to Leavenworth for desertion. And not to mention Martha but Bush was a little more serious. Good thing dads buddy in the SEC took care of things.
