Elmer Smith's column is really scary but it represents what a number of my Democratic friends (and relatives) believe to be true. Of course, I agree with his analysis, but the optimist in me still thinks that the young and the newly registered will put Kerry over--provided the Republicans trying to stop them from voting don't succeed in their nefarious mission.
