Hello, hello...I'm getting sick of a song called "Vertigo."
Well, maybe it's OK -- it's just that Atrios ruined it for us when he remarked several weeks ago that the song is a remarkable rip-off of the Supremes' 1966 classic, "You Keep Me Hangin' On." (although not the dirge-like Vanilla Fudge remake.)
Now we wonder if Motown songwriters Holland/Dozier/Holland have called their attorney yet. My sweet lord!
We're waiting for the next U2 disc, "Bono Sings Bono," the first single of which will sound remarkably like "Beat Goes On."
Thank you for speaking out against the blight that is Vertigo. I should never, ever say anything bad about U2, as it's my wife's favorite band, and I think she would run off with Bono if given the chance. Oh my, it's all too much though, isn’t it? I was kind of okay with the Ipod commercials, even if they do play every 20 seconds, but the song's invasion of Monday Night Football sent me over the edge and left me a quivering shell of my former self -- not that there was much to hollow out to begin with.
By the way, a spectacular musician by the name of Chris Potter, has an album named Vertigo. It's a sub-par effort, as are all of his albums, but if you ever have the chance to see him live and have the ears to hear, you will be left breathless. I liken the experience to a very pleasant form of brain surgery.
