More fallout from the tsunami...article.
Today, Jerry Komar of Collingswood, N.J., writes:
REPORTER Will Bunch's recent article, after first offering some very good information on disaster relief, degenerated into America- and Bush-bashing. Half of the questions posed in his piece took cheap political shots.
Perhaps he should have asked, "Where is all the financial assistance from Muslim countries?" It's conspicuous by its absence. The fact is, the United States, as usual, will foot most of the bill to help the people in those devastated areas.
Jerry is right about the Arab world acting stingy, as evidenced by this recent piece in the Washington Post. But the fact remains that other nations like Japan and Germany have pledged more, at least in hard dollars, than the United States. Also, let's be clear that we're talking about the government, because the generosity of the American people, on a personal level, is unmatched.
Actually, considering the article's authorship, I thought it more balanced than I would have expected.
High praise!
