We need to send Rep. John Conyers and Barbara Boxer over to Iraq to investigate the vote count there. It sounds like, in comparison, the balloting in Ohio was free and fair. This is from Agence France-Presse:
As Iraq waited for the final vote tally, the election commision said it was investigating remedies to the fact tens of thousands of people who were unable to vote in the polls due to a shortage of ballot papers.
"We are dealing with it now. Let us see what happens, we are very sorry," spokesman Farid Ayar said.
But Iraqi officials were unable to say if there was a procedure for reopening the vote.
Interim President Ghazi al-Yawar told a press conference yesterday that "tens of thousands were not able to vote for the lack of ballots", with the problems mainly in Mosul, Basra, Baghdad and Najaf.
Abdul Hussein al-Hindawi, chairman of the electoral commision, also acknowledged problems in Sunni areas where polling stations had not opened or not enough ballots had been distributed in Nineveh, Salaheddin and Tamim provinces
