Exercise can take a real toll on a woman's skin, especially in the wintertime if you're outside a lot. What is your skin-care routine? And do you bother with makeup when you exercise?

JENICE: Everyone says that working out while you're wearing makeup is terrible for your skin. But who wants to go to the gym totally barefaced? I'd scare people. (smile) And who has time during the middle of the day, to totally remove your makeup, workout and then put it all back on again? How does everyone else handle this?

YVONNE: Very good question. I keep a jar of shea butter or Vaseline in the bathroom so I can slather up right after I shower, one, so I don't forget, and two, so it's absorbed before I dress. The face issue is a little more delicate. I don't wear makeup. But I NEVER never go outside without having on an oil-free moisturizer. The wind and the sun are brutal on the face. I wash my fash with a gentle cleanser in the morning and before bed. If I need to clean my face during the day, such as after a swim, I only rinse with plain water. Too many cleansers and creams tend to upset my skin.

THERESA: You don't use Vaseline on your face though, right? That clogs your pores.

YVONNE: Vaseline or shea butter on the body, not the face.

WENDY: You know, I think the makeup-at-the-gym thing is a bit overrated! I have sensitive skin that needs no excuse to break out, and yet I don't have a problem with working out in makeup. (I don't wear base, though, which is probably the big culprit). Plus, I agree with Jenice -- nobody needs to see me sans makeup at any time, especially when sweaty.

This is gross, but I never take off the makeup to work out, and it's worked so far. A shower, though -- that's just a necessity.

THERESA: I work out in makeup, wash my face in the shower after, and then put my moisturizer and makeup on again (though often I'm too flushed after a workout to want to put on blush right away.) If I'm going for an early-morning run, I usually don't bother with the makeup beforehand, but as I'm jogging, I always hope I don't see anybody I know!

I do drink plenty of water. That's gotta be good for my skin, right? I sometimes have trouble with chapped lips when I'm out in the cold, and have to use Chapstick or Blistex liberally. I'm never quite sure what the right approach is to keep my lips protected from the elements.

JENICE: Yeah, I'm always hoping I don't bump into anyone either when I'm all sweaty and my hair's all out of control. But somehow, I always do.

ELLEN: I admit that I read the men's magazines for professional reasons. Well, I do. Anyway, if they are telling anything close to the truth, sweaty, hair-mussed exercise babes are the best.

JENICE: Go figure. But I've actually gotten asked out when I looked like that.

LAURIE: Well, I just bought a bunch of new skin creams. My strategy is, when I don't like the lines on my face, I change cosmetic lines! Though I think much of the hype is just that, it does seem there are some products that are truly better. Especially when it comes to moisturizing. If I am going to be outside, sometimes I'll use a heavy-duty nighttime moisturizer even though it's daytime. And, of course, LOTS of SPF 30!

Dry lips are a problem too. Here's a tip: Everybody's face has oily spots. When your lips are dry, run your fingers over an oily spot (like your forehead, maybe) and then across your lips. That skin oil is the best instant moisturizer. Sounds gross, but it works.

YVONNE: I do the oily spot rub too for my lips!

THERESA: I never heard of that. Hey, whatever works!
