Kudos to Char Nolan, who will be participating in the Suzuki Rock and Roll Marathon in San Diego in just two weeks as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. She's been doing this since 1998, working with Team In Training to raise funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives.
She's been training diligently. "If I am not walking to the "Y" then doing a workout, I am at Valley Forge or Kelly Drive doing my workouts," she says. "When I wear my purple singlet, another walker or runner will shout out, "GO TEAM!" and from that vote, I can continue."
She's completing the Suzuki Rock and Roll Marathon marathon in honor of Steven Wright, the brother of another TNT participant, Janet Wright Waitkus. Steve lost his life Christmas week of 2003.
These Rock-N-Roll marathons sound so cool, with rock bands serenading runners throughout the race. Has anyone done one? Tell us about it! And if you like, you can make a contribution to Char's effort.
Congrats to Char! I have completed two rock n' roll events-- the VA Beach Rock n Roll half marathon and the Country Music 1/2 Marathon, both organized by the same folks doing San Diego. Great events! very well organized, the music and the crowds keep you going.

I've done 2 Rock'N'Roll Events too (San Diego and the Virginia Beach 1/2) and they were so much fun that I'm going back to Virginia Beach this summer.
The music is awesome the crowds are great and the combination helps push you to finish a tough race.
Char was my TNT coach for the three marathons I've done and she's the best! My advice: sign up with TNT, meet Char, get inspired and do a marathon of your own!

Steve's spirit lives on, his faith brought so many together, his courage sustained us, his unconditional love holds us all together, forever.
A day doesn't go by that I don't think about him and his legacy. SO many lives were touched by his. I feel so blessed to have had Steve has my brother, and so many TEAM MATES to walk and run for such a great cause!
