Bigger breasts offered as perk to soldiers Theresa: What do you think of this, ladies? The military is offering boob jobs as a recruiting tool! Report: Bigger breasts offered as perk to soldiers

Hey, I think we should think about joining the military!

If I had plastic surgery, I wouldn't want it to be done by some surgeon who needed "practice." This is yet another case of poor Americans getting less than.

Posted by: Jenice on July 23, 2004 10:20 AM

whaaaaaaa???
I am JUST appalled by this! And, I'm sorry Jenice, I don't buy the 'poor getting less' argument -- I think the whole deal stinks, regardless of economic status. WHY ARE WE GIVING AWAY BOOB JOBS? Why are larger breasts seen as an "incentive" to join the armed forces? Does that attract the kind of "soldier" we want? For heaven's sake! Here's a thought: how about we "incent" them by paying them better?

Another thought -- military service is one place that women are able to prove their worth in a world that's at least less concerned with how they look, what they wear, if they wear makeup -- my father, brother and sister in law were all in the Air Force, and I'll tell you, basic training is the great leveler. It's about what your body can do. And it's about pushing that ability further than you thought you could. Why interrupt that with negative messages about body image, instead of celebrating what military women are achieving? (And btw -- are there any military women among our readers who want to chime in here?)

Well, I have a couple of problems with this. First and foremost taxpayers should not be subsidizing plastic surgery under any circumstances. Secondly, I partially agree with Jenice that this is another act of exploiting primarily the poor. They are using people that don't have access as guinea pigs. Sure, there are people in the military that don't fall into the poor category (primarily officers) but the majority do. Most people who join the military want to gain access to more opportunities. Hence, we don't see a lot of congressman's children signed up for military service.

There are only two words that come to mind while reading this article. Completely ridiculous!

This is so scary. It really fosters the perception of obtaining the perfect body through cosmetic surgery instead of diet and exercise. This in my opinion sends such a negative message to young girls and women. Its really a shame that now not only do we have negative reality shows on television making average women poster children for cosmetic surgery but now the military is jumping on the band wagon. This is the kind of stuff that creates negative body image in young girls and women.

Hmmmmmmmm...........I think they should spend more time trying to stop all the harrasment and rape in the armed forces(and give men/woman more $ and let them do what they want with it).As a man i can say that big "BOOBS" are very over rated.....It's just another myth that all guys like them.My girlfriend has perfect (sic) boobs but is convienced that they are small due to all the woman running around with "DD"'s.Woman are harder on other woman then men are about apperence!!!! JMO!

I can't believe all the hype about plastic surgery. It doesn't always pertain to breast enlargement. People, I thought this was the information technology age. Be informed before you make judgements. Most women are getting much needed breast REDUCTION not enlargement. Not to mention that double d's are not given regardless of the need to practice. Being military I get tired of hearing about how people don't want to subsidize our benefits. I'd love for once for our so called medical care to be compared to your typical civilian care. Does someone need to check you out to determine if you are sick enough to wait in line to see a doctor? Did you know that women need to be 3 months pregnant BEFORE they can even make an appointment to see an OB? Believe me boob jobs are far from the recruiting tool the media is making it out to be. Nice to know the media is doing such a swell job on reporting the issues relevant to the military

The boob jobs the military is offering is not going to help the large contingent of out of shape, fat and ugly woman who join the Military. The Military is the only place such a female can go and feel like she is hot. Because all the other females are also ugly. They join the Military because their is no competition from other females. The men out number the woman about 10-2. So the woman are automatically popular because there is no competition. It is said women do not like competition and I believe it.

The military does not need to be offering boob jobs. It should offer to hold the women to equal physical standards as the men. I've seen plenty of men who were on overwieght programs whom were not overwieght at all. At the same time I've seen wommen who were just flat out Fat as hell who passed the weight test. It just proves women are not expected to work as hard as the men.(affirmative action?)

Did I say all females who join the military are fat and ugly? My mistake. Most are but some are pretty. Most of the pretty ones join the Air Force.

Some Females in the Military are pretty good soldiers and are there to do a good job, and have High Standards for themselves. But then there are always a few men and woman who join for the wrong reasons. What's next? Larger penis implants for men. Do we want Soldiers who can do a good job and are interested in accomplishing the mission or Soldiers who only care about themselves.

Funny...I don't remember anyone complaining about Jessica Lynch receiving plastic surgery to repair the damage done to her...

Posted by: Mickey on July 28, 2004 12:53 AM

I don't think anyone should complain about a soldier getting plastic surgery to repair damage recieved in combat.

The Military Leadership is full of hypocrites and cronic lyers. They offer you the world to get you to sign an enlistment paper. They go on TV and talk about how they take care of the soldiers and keep their morale high. They just like to toot their own horn. I've seen politicians go on TV and tell everyone how they are giving soldiers 2 weeks R&R leave so they can go home and see their families all the while lying and tooting their own horns. The Unit I'm in Looks like we will not send more then 60% of our soldiers on R&R. They claim their are just not enouph flights to send us all home for rest and recooperation. They had no problem getting the flights to send us here.

They had a deal going for the last group who were in Iraq that after six months in theater they would get more pay for being here. But if you took the R&R you could not get the extra pay because you would not have been considered to have been here for more than six consecutive months.

Now they took away that extra pay for more than 6 months and all the sudden there are not enouph flights to send everyone home. The only reason there was enouph flights before was becuase the government would end up saveing money by sending troops home. It wasn't because they were taking care of the soldiers. For crying out loud, I'd pay for my own air fair to go home for 2 weeks and recooperate if the taxpayer doesn't want to pay for it. But I really can't stand when Generals and Politicians stand up at a podium and talk about how much they are doing for the soldiers, because they make it sound like they are being kind and giving all of us some time off that we don't deserve. They only give part of the story -- the part that makes them look good.

Since I've been in the military I've heard more lies than I've heard from all the politicians I've ever known of. If the military sais it is offering free plastic surgerey. There is probably a catch. Like you have to get a boob blown off in order to qualify, or something like that. They are very sneaky and never tell you the whole story unless you ask them a detailed question about it. The military, just like the government is full of hypocrites.

would this not detract frpm a male soldier doing his "duty"..i.e. if they were supposed to be looking for somebody or sombodies,,,i think the female should drive the vehicle.
