YVONNE:
A reporter asked me this morning if the terms "runners" and "joggers" were interchangeable for a story he is writing.
Great question, I responded. I am not a very fast long-distance runner so I sure don't mind anyone characterizing what I do as jogging. But I know many runners who would mind. And more often than not, all of us out there on the trails say "running."
What do you all think? Are the words "jogging" and its derivatives demeaning to "runners?"
THERESA: Runners World magazine is aiming to appeal more and more to the ever growing number of recreational runners, but so far, they haven't spun off a publication called "Joggers World." Though I'm slow, I like to think of myself as a runner.
According to ACE (American Council on Exercise) running is considered anything 6.0 mph. Jogging is anything below that.
