Dragon Boat Racers!

THERESA: The Daily News/Philadephia Inquirer Dragon Boat team had our very first practice on the Schuykill River last night. We rocked! (The boat, that is...) It was so much fun. We're all rank beginners, but by the end of our hour of coaching, we'd developed a certain rhythm and at least we'd all gotten some good exercise. We'll have two more practices before the Third Annual Philadelphia Dragon Boat Festival races on Oct. 2. More than 100 teams are signed up for the sold-out event, a fundraiser for Fox Chase Cancer Center. Girlfriends Wendy, Yvonne D., April, Yvonne W. (who will be our teams' drummer), Jill, Jenice and I are all on the team, along with a great crew of our colleagues, including our publisher, Joe Natoli!

You may remember we discussed this here a few months ago, before we got our own team together. We'd love to hear from other Dragon Boaters out there. Any advice to offer our boatload of novices? (CLICK FOR MORE to see us all in the boat!)
