THERESA: More Magazine is releasing a new survey that reports that women in their 40s seem to be happy with how they look, but those feelings of happiness seem to drop when we hit our 50s. More reports that 64 percent of women 40-plus are pleased with their looks vs. only 42 percent of women under 40. Makes sense to me. I love being in my 40s. I've never been more comfortable in my own skin.. Women age 40-44 are more likely to feel better about their looks now than they did five years ago. However, by age 55, only 45 percent like what they see, More report. And at age 60, just one-third are happy with their appearance.
Additionally, one-third of women over 40 would consider cosmetic surgery, but only 5 percent have gone under the knife. · Almost half would consider laser skin resurfacing or a chemical peel- but only 7 percent have done it.
More goes on to talk about what women like and don't like about changes that come with the aging process. What do you all think about all this?
YVONNE W: Aging is an interesting process. I don't mind growing older. I'm not as insecure as I once was. I have a great deal of inner strength. I also know I can handle most situations without falling apart.
I'm confident about what works for me. Listening to people I trust is essential, but ultimately I make my own decisions. However, if I make a mistake I take responsibility then move on.

Jill Porter is a wonderful example of a confident, self-assured mature woman. I really admire her aura.
JILL: Thank you Yvonne, but I assure you, it's all a front! I cluck and shake my head when I catch sight of that saggy jawline the story talks about, and wonder whether there will ever be enough disposable income to make it go away. I'm currently wondering whether the reason I can't get into my clothes isn't the extra few pounds I can't shake, but an age-related redistribution of my body fat. I DO feel great, and am in better condition than I've ever been in my life. Getting older in terms of society, though, means you become invisible -- and in a way, that's great. You don't have to worry so much about your appearance, because nobody is looking at you! Well, at me, anyway.
And I'll return the compliment Yvonne by saying that you are fabulous looking -- actually better looking now, I think, than ever.
Ditto for me. I agree with Theresa. I don't define myself by my age and I don't worry about wrinkles. As I age I get better, bolder, and more secure in my own skin.
