Saturday's Liver Walk dedicated to George Reynolds From today's Daily News

The Delaware Valley chapter of the American Liver Foundation will hold its fourth annual Liver Walk from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Lloyd Hall on Kelly Drive in Fairmount Park.

There will be a 5-mile run on Sunday at Solly and Rowland avenues, in front of Father Judge High.

Both events are dedicated to the memory of former Daily News photographer George Reynolds, who died on June 9 from liver cancer.

Reynolds, considered among the nation's best sports photographers, spent 23 years capturing the highs and lows of Philadelphia's sports teams for the Daily News. His 1993 shot of Mitch Williams leaping off the mound after recording the final out against the Atlanta Braves, lifting the Phillies to the World Series, is legendary.

More recently, Reynolds captured, as only he could, Eagles wide receiver Freddie Mitchell's famous fourth-and-26 catch against the Green Bay Packers in last season's NFL playoff game at Lincoln Financial Field.

Reynolds worked the Eastern Conference finals between the Flyers and Tampa Bay Lightning last spring. Although his health was failing, his work clearly wasn't. He shot every game, including Game 7 in Tampa, less than a month before his death.

"An acquaintance of the family contacted the foundation, and they were nice enough to dedicate this year's walk in George's memory," said Reynolds' widow, Diane. "We will have a photo display of some of his photographs at the event, so everyone can come and see his work."

The events will take place rain or shine. Check-in time is 8:30 a.m. and the start time is 9:30. For information and registration, call the ALF office at 610-668-0152 or click through to www.liverfoundation.org
