Q: Welcome to Keeping it Real, Mike & Rob. Tell us about your fitness background. A: Mike - Rob and I have been training since we were 16. Q: June is the most popular month for weddings, and many people try to lose weight before their nuptials. Is tying weight loss to a specific event a healthy idea?
A: We believe that just getting started is the most important step anyone can take. Exercise is the key to staying healthy and in shape along with proper nutrition.
Q: What advice can you give for developing healthy habits amid the stress of wedding preparation, prom or any stressful event?
A: Working out can be a stress reliever. It will relieve some of your frustrations, knowing that you’re going to be getting in shape. Also, with the proper diet, you will feel much healthier.
Q: How do you know when your goal is unrealistic?
A: You know when your goal is unrealistic when it is pragmatically out of reach. I suggest you seek a personal trainer’s advice, to see if your goal is realistic. Do not take it upon yourself to try and ascertain if it is realistic.
Q: How can people maintain healthy habits after their dream events?
A: People can maintain healthy habits by setting new goals. Example - Say one has lost the goal weight, now their new goal might be, running a marathon or changing up their exercise routine.
Q: How does a person find the right fitness program for him or her?
A: One needs to figure out what his/her goals are, then seek a trainer to assertain if those goals are realistic.
Q: How does a person know when he or she is obsessing about weight loss in general?
A: A) When you hear a person complain about his/her weight every day Q: What is your fitness routine, Mike?
A: One style of training I do is called "Hypertrophy." It means "building muscle." I do four sets of eight to 12 reps. After four weeks, I go to strength training.
