Iraq Books
This is a pretty comprehensive list of recent books written about Iraq. Some are academic studies. Some are operational/tactical accounts and many are 1st person point-of-view accounts of small units and individual soldiers. The war in Iraq, is in my opinion, one of the most important issues this nation has faced in decades. How we proceed, what we learn from it, and how we support and understand what our veterans went through is critical.
Also, to those who have served in Iraq or other theaters in the war on terror, or are preparing to go, I worked closely with a number of officers who recommended many of these books to me for officers, SNCO's, and NCO's. Due to the tremendous strain on our military many don't get the time one would need to truly prepare (if that is ever possible) for what is a fairly complex war theater. I am not a military expert on any level, if I speak with any sense of authority on the topic please know I am only attempting to echo what many I trust who do have experience have shared with me. I try to read as much as I can, but depend on many of my buddies in the service to give me the texture of what it all means. I have made this list as comprehensive as I could, as I do not want to edit and therefore comment too much on their relative worth. I will be posting a blurb on each one either written by me if I have read it, or by a serviceman who has on a weekly basis.
