We think we have to write like Shakespeare, speak like Martin Luther King Jr., and have the courage of a lion to stand up for things that are right. We have been told for so long that one voice, especially one of "just a citizen", cannot resonate like powerful and special interests can. But that isn't so. We have the power to change our communities, our nation, and our world for the better. Each and every voice is important and we all must stand up and be counted, and we all must stand together. The whole is always greater than the sum of its parts, and together we can accomplish more than we realize.

The philosophy behind Citizen Hunter flowed naturally from ideas and values that captured my heart and mind long ago. But the inspiration to sit down and put it together was the countless amazing people I have met on this great adventure.
I have been blessed in life to have had the opportunity to meet many "important" people. Citizen Hunter is a testament to the people who inspire me the most, far more than politicians, celebrities, or media notables. The group I listen to with rapt attention. The group I think of when writing, talking on TV, or giving a speech. My "team of experts" that I turn to, are the great people across this country whose names you may not know. People who have been generous enough to let me into their lives and who care enough about their fellow man to always ask, what can I do to help?
That seems to be the most asked question I get, and doesn't that say something?! All the darkness in the world cannot overshadow that sense of hope and generosity I feel we all have within us.
As you will see on my site, I tried to highlight what we already know to be true - that being a good citizen means voting regularly, staying on top of the issues, and becoming more involved in our communities. But it is much more than that. It also means working to maintain strong families, helping those in need, and spending our humanitarian equity.
Join me as we take the sum of all our parts and walk together to make an even mightier impact on the world around us. Whether activism is a common part of your life or if you have never participated before, I hope Citizen Hunter can be a place where together we can forge a greater citizenry.
Note: this website represents my personal views, and not the official views of the organizations I work with or those of my employers.
Why "Hunter"? You looking for citizens? Looking for causes?

Thanks, Peter for the great question and yes is the answer. I want to find people who are not only working at being good citizens but who are setting the example as well and try to provide a place for those people to share their ideas and thoughts.
P.S.
And there is a little bit of a secret meaning behind the use of the word “Hunter.” I think I will keep it that way for now for a close personal reason.

The world is very different now. For man holds in his mortal hands the power to abolish all forms of human poverty and all forms of human life. And yet the same revolutionary beliefs for which our forebears fought are still at issue around the globe—the belief that the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state, but from the hand of God. - JFK
National Center for Strategic Social Initiatives org (NCSSI) was conceived of a self mandate to address the social issues in our communities. It is a novel and “working” visionary concept of a “social doctrine” whose end product is in the form of social initiatives.
A “social initiative” as defined by NCSSI ….. is the action and/or policy of what we must do to effect resolve to a social issue with the paramount understanding that “social issue resolutions” do not lend them selves to solitary action or policy, but are of a collective and collaborative package extending well into other related issues. Social issues are by nature deeply entwined and associated with human emotion …………… so must be their resolve. RICHARD LIBERATOSCIOLI / founder

Thank you for responding.
I just read your blog (is it a blog?) for the first time and think that it's good. I'm not one to know much about what is and isn't great bloggyness but by way of your intro you have touched on what I think are the keys to a great blog and a solid citizen.
I only mention FDL as a comparison because I think that Reddhedd and family have begun to roll out the prototypical progressive blog: deeply passionate, informed and an intellectual willingness to discuss the tough issues without invectives and hyperbole. (Honorable mention, Huffington Post & Josh Marshall)
So here is my idea - I'm not sure how to coordinate the "progressive" message but I think your calm, reasoned, responses can break through the RNC noise machine and can influence voters. I would like to see your ideas/face on the tube more than the standard DNC shills (pasteurized faces/messages of Mr. Schrum, Carvell, Colmes, etc.) How can we help you get more air time or assist in the crafting of the progressive message?
Below is listed one thing that FDL did that I thought was very important (I apologize if I have assumed too much about your politics - you may not even consider yourself a progressive? You may be some other type of persona but I just think we as citizens should do what is right not what is expedient for the party and you seem to agree with that idea?)
I read on FDL that they (several concerned citizens) meet with Mr. Kerry's staff person and tried to iterate their concerns about several important issues.
I was wondering who you might be in discussions with within the DNC, DLC, etc. because it seems your thoughtful retorts are what needs to be said by the Dem party (elders.) And that the Dems needs a coherent face on some critical issue (for example - your take on the high jacking of the Christian ideals by the loony religious right) not just the same tried Democratic refrain of appeasement with the hard right.
In reading the Kerry camp response and I'm not sure that they (Kerry) get how the net roots can help shape the political landscape by getting average citizens involved in the process of delivering a well thought out answer to most of the RNC/FOX news talking points.
The real question is; how can we as citizens can take back our political power?
Sorry, I'm rambling - keep it up and thanks for listening.

Posted by: elizabeth at April 1, 2006 09:59 AMHi Flavia,
LTNS, etc etc. I was advised to post about a project that might be of some interest to the musically inclined (or politically inclined) visitors to your site, so here goes.
A bunch of people in the Atlanta area got together and put together an amazing set of music CDs. They combine the ideas of Allan Sherman with the spirit of Jon Stewart. They call themselves The Freedom Toast, and their website is www.thefreedomtoast.com where one can hear brief clips of some of their songs.
The albums are called "Song Along With The Democrats" and "Sing Along With The Republicans."
Most of the songs are lighthearted, some are not. They had a cast of thousands, I think. They had a Jamaican calypso singer for "Enron Farewell," a Gospel chorus for "Stoop Low, You Media (Swing Low, Sweet Chariot)," a military style chorus for "When Johnnie Comes Rolling Home," a Sinatra sound-alike for "Strangers on the Right," and a merciless Bush sound-alike for "I've Been Working On Vacation" and "Home on the Range."
Some sample verses...........
From "Home on the Range:"
Oh, give me a home
Where no Liberals roam,
And the folks all think the same way,
Where each house has a gun
A big caliber one
And strangers are told, "make my day!"
Home, home on the range,
Where the beer and the canteloupe lay,
Where seldom is heard
A three syllable word
Or if so then it's one I can say."
From "When Johnnie Comes Rolling Home:"
The White House thinks they did the job, IRAQ, IRAQ
They never heard our Johnnie sob, IRAQ, IRAQ
The never found what they went to find,
And they give no thought to those left behind
Bush will not be there when Johnnie comes rolling home.
Or Enron Farewell:
Down Texas way where the Oilers play
I am known as a gallant southern Gentleman
I lost my grip, my reputation slipped,
And now George Bush, he avoids me like the Taliban
He said, "Sad to say, Goodbye Ken Lay
We won't play golf for many a day
My stock is down, my corporation's aground
I'm only left with my mansion in Houston town."
And "Strangers on the Right."
Strangers on the Right, invading Congress
Strangers on the right, impedeing progress
They'll put up a fight to liberals like you!
Something in their eyes resembles fire
Roe v. Wade's demise is their desire
Cutting down to size those States that still are blue..."
and so on and so on.
The music is just amazing (wait til you hear the southern gospel choir on "Stoop Low, You Media."
I hope you get a chance to hear these. they will gladden the heart of every Democrat interested in hearing some friendly politically-oriented music that neither shouts or sounds like it was recorded in a garage.
The Freedom Toast for breakfast!
Best regards,
Marc

Hello Bonnie!
Thank-you for your prompt reply. I can only assume your are very new to investigative reporting. When the people who commit Felony Crimes against the community are the same ones the have been sworn the "enforce the laws" of the commonwealth, you will not see their crimes published in the daily police briefs section of the newspaper.
I have submitted formal charges to the Internal Investigations Department of the Lower Merion Police Department, but it was discovered by Lower Merion Police Capt. Mcgrath that the ones attempting to "investigate" these criminal charges were in fact involved in the crimes themselves. I asked for an investigation of these crimes by someone not directly involved in the crimes. LM Police would not do this.
I then escalated this matter to the Township Manager, he stated the Township Manager has "no authority over the LMPD in matters of Internal Investigations".
After reading the Township municipal codes, I contacted him again and showed him in fact he is responsible for all the departments within LMPD with no exclusion to internal investigations.
I asked him for his oversight of the criminal investigation and he assured me that the LMPD Superintendent of Police will be making a full report of this matter to the Township Board of Commissioners.
Later, in contacting Lower Merion Township, I asked if the Township Commissioners have reviewed the Superintendents report of the crimes committed by LMPD, I was told "there was no report"... (being from a family of police and detectives, I new this was harboring criminals)
LMPD will not even tell me why I was officially stopped I the first place. I then filed for release of this information thru the "Right to Know" laws of PA. Still will not release anything. I filed a formal appeal to the Township Board of Commissioners as provided for in the law, no response except a letter from their attorney that "they will not talk to you".
The LMPD filed for public documents destruction of its police reports to the Township Commissioners. I attempted to file an injunction to preserve these documents stating they are of criminal evidence against the LMPD, but the judge said she "does not have the authority" to stop this destruction. .... ( I'm not a lawyer ... but this I know isn't true)
In filing the criminal charges through the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, He told me "we have no authority to obtain police reports from Lower Merion Police Department" .... (then how do you conduct criminal investigations then?)
The attack on me outside the Lower Merion Police department Headquarters effected near death conditions and twice hospitalized now suffer permanent health health conditions from this attack. The doctors called several times to the Lower Merion Police Department for information about this attack , but the doctor came to me and said "They wont return my calls"
Bonnie, there is so much more involving the Felony crimes committed the Lower Merion Police Department. I would be happy to meet with you should you feel this is news worthy for our community.
Thank-you!

Hello Brenda!
It was so very nice to have finally met you in person at the last Lower Merion Township Board of Commissioners meeting. I am happy to see that your flagship agenda of “The community and its government – working together” is truly materializing thru your work and now by your conception of the new “community access” public forum on our local government cable channels. Rest assured NCSSI will be in full support and in direct involvement with you every step of the way!
I will be submitting to you, as you had requested, the community initiatives proposed by NCSSI. We hope to be the very first forum on your new “community programming” forum.
I write you today in grave concern of the pending Federal Investigation Police Corruption against the Lower Merion Township Police Department Officers and their supervisors. The Criminal Fabrication of Evidence and the following brutal attack by the Lower Merion Police Officer Frank Thomas just outside the Police Department Headquarters is identical in modus operandi as the Boon murder in Ardmore. The Lower Merion Board of Township Commissioners refuse to enforce the laws of the commonwealth leaving the township liable for massive criminal and civil liability. But more important , Lower Merion Township Commissioners now leaves the very real possibility of someone who has murdered Mrs. Boon to go free on grounds of Internal Corruption and Fabrication of Criminal Evidence by the same officers within the Lower Merion Police Department.
Please Forward to all Lower Merion Township Commissioners immediately!!
Your partner in the community … working together!

TAX MONEY-NOT PEOPLE
TRANSACTION TAX/USER FEE
A TAX SUITABLE FOR THE TWENTY FIRST CENTURY
READ THE FAQ
BLUEPRINT FOR PEACE
The essence of the Transaction tax/user fee is that it is not a tax upon any commodity or real property. It is a small fee paid for using the currency of the United States. It does not tax the money a person or entity has until the money is moved. To the worker it amounts to a fee of one dollar for each one thousand dollars earned or spent. Under the existing tax code a taxpayer who earns forty five thousand dollars a year is taxed over four thousand dollars. Under the "user fee" he would pay a maximum of ninety dollars if he spent all the money he earned. If he did not spend it all he would pay no tax on the money that remains in the bank. This concept will derive revenues in proportion to the wealth a person uses not the wealth he has.
The explicit purpose of this Web Page is to give those who visit it a knowledge of a concept that could, if used as an alternative to the present system of taxation provide a single tax replace all of the taxes collected by the Federal, State, and Local governments combined. The present systems were enacted into law to fit the needs of times that have no relevance to the technology or the needs of the age we are now entering.
There are no commercial ads or personal opinions, philosophies, or solicitations to be found here. All of the information is for the purpose of substantiating one simple conclusion built upon the facts presented that it is better to Tax Money Not People. You will not be asked to join any organization or receive a request for donations. The only thing you are asked to do if you are in agreement with the conclusion, spread this concept to others. The ones who will gain the most are middle class taxpayers. The only ones who would pay more under this concept would be those individuals and corporate entities that do not pay any tax under the existing tax code. One example would be Enron who did not pay any taxes in four out of the last five years before it went into bankruptcy. The opening paragraph explains the advantage to the average taxpayer who paid more in taxes than did Enron.
The proposed law is as follows:
A tax of one-tenth of one percent more or less shall be levied on all transactions having a monetary value.
INCLUSIONS
All transactions either in cash, checks, electronic transfers, credit lines, transfers of goods or properties, stock certificates, securities, transfers of assets between business entities etc.
EXEMPTIONS
No exemptions to any individual, corporation, or agency including governmental, quasi-governmental entities, nonprofit corporations, fraternal or religious institutions. Cash transactions of less than $1,000.00 would not be taxed.
The seventy three words of this law would replace the entire IRS Tax Code (26 USC) that contains 2.8 million words used to administer, collect, and regulate the provision of the 16th Amendment to the Constitution containing only 30 words.
Amendment XVI
The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several states, and without regard to any census or enumeration.
END OF AN ERA
A Structure will topple over if it grows too large relative to its weight. The same is true with institutions that grow to a size where they cannot be effectively managed, controlled, or fulfill the function for which they are created. This is certainly true of the IRS the agency designated to collected the revenues generated by the IRS Tax Code (26 USC).
There has never been a piece of legislation that has had its provisions change with every new session of Congress this year there are 400 of them. Nearly every bill passed by congress has an effect upon the tax code. Much of the lobbying efforts of special interest groups are geared to convince Congress that a new provision should be inserted in the tax code or an old one eliminated.
Posted by: Richard Liberatoscioli at April 1, 2006 10:52 PMcont'd ...
The method to collect revenues makes every individual and every business firm a tax collector who must determine how much money they owe and it is their responsibility to remit any money over and above the deductions from their pay checks by their employers. The employers must remit the withheld wages quarterly along with their share of the FICA and the tax on profits that they have made, plus the tax on any capital gains.
The time spent by individuals to make the returns due by 4/15 each year is no mere annoyance to them. However, the cost of filling out the required forms for the giant corporations such as EXXON, General Motors, General Electric, Microsoft, etc requires them to hire huge staffs of tax lawyers, CPAs, resulting in tax forms that measure 3 or more feet high. The IRS does not have the capacity to audit any of the large corporate returns they depend on the integrity of the CPAs, Lawyers, etc. and are forced to trust that the forms are accurate and honest. They audit the forms of those individuals and businesses that are at lower end of complexity, and they audit only 1% in an average year.
The IRS practice of using the taxpayers as the tax collectors has led to widespread evasion and abuse. The estimates as to how much is lost in revenues due to evasion vary greatly. However, because of the immensity of number of returns whatever the figure cited it can only be speculative. A search of the statistics on the IRS URL http://www.irs.treas.gov will enlighten and dispel any doubts about the problem. The collection procedure is further acerbated because we have been in a global economy for many years. The speculative movements of money and the movement of money to hide profits, show profits, launder money, evade taxes, whatever the purpose may be there is no way that the activity can be traced. If the IRS cannot examine written forms, the transactions on a world wide web are beyond their reach or purview.
Trying to remedy the situation by reforming systems that are obsolete and outdated is an impossibility that would only serve the purpose of those who will not relinquish the benefits they receive from the IRS Tax Code (25 USC) a monstrosity that was created by their influence and control of the legislature. However, the very things that are destroying the old can be used as the building blocks for the new.
When President Nixon wanted to fund the Vietnam War he realized that because the United States was committed to support and maintain the price of gold At $35.00 an ounce there was not enough money to fund the war. He recalled all the currency that up to that time was backed by the gold the United States had in Ft. Knox Kentucky. The dollar up to that time was the standard by which all the worlds currencies were pegged. Since that time they were left to float against each other. Leo Lamed the head of the Chicago futures market that dealt in commodities saw an opportunity to start trading in currencies. He needed some support that would influence the SEC so he went to a friend Milton Friedman former head of the Federal Reserve Board of Governors and paid Mr. Friedman $5,000.00 to write a paper in support of his idea. The rest is history the money market has soared into the billions of dollars daily. This phenomenal growth of money in the futures market combined with the money in the other markets Dow Jones, NASDAQ. NYSE, etc. and all of the money that is transacted through the FED an amount that exceeds 550trillion each year. If used as a tax base could generate revenues with a minuscule tax rate. With a rate of only one-tenth of one percent it would raise more than all the Federal, State, and Local taxes combined. It could become a single tax to replace all the others.

Jensen: You have meddled with the primal forces of nature, Mr. Beale, and I won't have it!! Is that clear?! You think you've merely stopped a business deal. That is not the case. The Arabs have taken billions of dollars out of this country, and now they must put it back! It is ebb and flow, tidal gravity! It is ecological balance!
You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no third worlds. There is no West. There is only one holistic system of systems, one vast and immane, interwoven, interacting, multivariate, multi-national dominion of dollars. Petro-dollars, electro-dollars, multi-dollars, Reichmarks, rins, rubles, pounds, and shekels.
It is the international system of currency which determines the totality of life on this planet. That is the natural order of things today. That is the atomic and subatomic and galactic structure of things today! And YOU have meddled with the primal forces of nature, and YOU WILL ATONE!
Am I getting through to you, Mr. Beale?
You get up on your little twenty-one inch screen and howl about America and democracy. There is no America. There is no democracy. There is only IBM and ITT and AT&T and DuPont, Dow, Union Carbide, and Exxon. Those are the nations of the world today.
What do you think the Russians talk about in their councils of state -- Karl Marx? They get out their linear programming charts, statistical decision theories, minimax solutions, and compute the price-cost probabilities of their transactions and investments, just like we do.
We no longer live in a world of nations and ideologies, Mr. Beale. The world is a college of corporations, inexorably determined by the immutable bylaws of business. The world is a business, Mr. Beale. It has been since man crawled out of the slime. And our children will live, Mr. Beale, to see that perfect world in which there's no war or famine, oppression or brutality -- one vast and ecumenical holding company, for whom all men will work to serve a common profit, in which all men will hold a share of stock, all necessities provided, all anxieties tranquilized, all boredom amused.
And I have chosen you, Mr. Beale, to preach this evangel.
Beale: But why me?
Jensen: Because you're on television, dummy. Sixty million people watch you every night of the week, Monday through Friday.
Beale: I have seen the face of God.
Jensen: You just might be right, Mr. Beale.

In the days before "bogging" there was "talk radio" forums. A telephone "call in" forum where you could express your views from the community.
As a participant in this new concept, I engaged in several community topics to this forum.
As the discussions had progressed to a point of actually attempting resolve to anything, through self or community commitment for action, I was told by the host of the talk forum "our forum is for entertainment purposes only"
In essence, You can express your point of view here, suggest grand initiatives for the community, etc, .... but don't expect us to actually doing anything here.
It was quite apparent that the forum was based on number of listeners(show ratings = commercial advertisement value) and not of the content of their views to then develop sound concepts to functional reality.
Is "Citizen Hunter" for "entertainment purposes only" ... or the real deal?
Thank-you!

Posted by: Christian at April 5, 2006 05:30 PMLower Merion - a blue print for a community district (concept draft)
Prelude
As I walk through the Ardmore “Historic/Business District” I try to take in the essence of the physical area it occupies and how it relates to the community in both a social and economic sense.
Ardmore business district today has reached a point of physical saturation exasperated further by ill development of its remaining prime community areas to massive large lot car dealers.
When a town has prime open space for new development it can afford the physical co-existence of its ancestral buildings, for it’s a desirable attribute of human nature to be linked to its past.
The problem comes when the town reaches a state of physical saturation. This is the town planner’s worst nightmare, for they know the time has come ….. to un-do the past …. to set seed for the future.
In a disastrous decision made by the Lower Merion Township Commissioners, private individual landlords can now stand in the way of any worthwhile and innovative social/economic master redevelopment plan for the Ardmore community. In a personal meeting with one of the landlords in the heart of the town, he stated “I’m all for Ardmore’s community redevelopment …. just don’t touch my building”. He made it quite clear to me that he is of “self-interest” only and not of the “community’s best interest”.
It is of my deepest conviction that Lower Merion’s “community interests” eminently supersede any private landlord’s “self-interest” in its common areas of the community.
Core Proposal Concepts
Lower Merion Township - by virtue of eminent domain thru its rightful “public use” land provisions, and as the legal and operational representative of the residents thereof,
proclaims “The community be of its own master”.
This public community initiative in essences makes Lower Merion Township exclusive “landlord” of their own community district and of its destiny.
The benefits to the community are epic in scope and magnitude. No longer can a single private landlord circumvent the entire community’s master revitalization plan designed to maintain and survive our community’s complex and dynamic town’s infrastructure.
All private business entities (tenants) within the community district serve at the sole discretion of the Lower Merion Township planning committee representing the current needs of its community.
All buildings within the community district are to be multi-story and serve mandatory mixed use. Ground levels reserved exclusively for prime business (tenant) locations. Upper levels for mixed community use.
Lower Merion School District - including all buildings, busses, employees, etc. to be rapidly phased out of existence. The quality level of teaching of our children can be greatly accelerated by computer workstations in the home and supported/supervised by learning specialists located in the community district. This would be staffed 24 hrs/ 7 days a week without interruption.

Flavia,
Being a good citizen requires the ownerhip of firearms. Here is what was stated about rights enumerated within the Constitution's Bill of Rights: "The whole of the Bill of Rights is a declaration of the right of the people at large or considered as individuals...It establishes some rights of the individual as unalienable and which consequently, no majority has a right to deprive them of."- ALBERT GALLATIN of the New York Historical Society, October 7, l789
One might ask what the big deal is in firearms ownership? Why do Americans especially, favor the carry and use of arms. Here is why: "If circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and the use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights and those of their fellow citizens."- ALEXANDER HAMILTON of New York
The big question is why do leftists in this country feel it is proper to pass laws which will only disarm those most inclined to obey those laws, primarily, the citizens you wish to contact with this website. here is what has been said on that: "Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man."- THOMAS JEFFERSON, Thomas Jefferson's" Commonplace Book," 1774-1776
George Washington stated "A free people ought...to be armed."
Other observations on being armed:
"The right of self-defense is the first law of nature; in most governments it has been the study of rulers to confine this right within the narrowest possible limits. ... and [when] the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any color or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, [then] liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction." - St. George Tucker, Judge of the Virginia Supreme Court 1803
"The great object is that every man be armed. Everyone who is able might have a gun."- PATRICK HENRY
"Arms in the hands of citizens [may] be used at individual discretion...in private self-defense..."- JOHN ADAMS
"Congress have no power to disarm the militia. Their swords, and every other terrible implement of the soldier, are the birth-right of an American...[T]he unlimited power of the sword is not in the hands of either the federal
or state governments, but, where I trust in God it will ever remain, in the hands of the people."- TENCH COXE of Pennsylvania
"Are we at last brought to such a humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our own defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in our possession and under our own direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"- PATRICK HENRY
"To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of the people always possess arms and be taught alike, especially when young, how to use them..."- RICHARD HENRY (LIGHT HORSE HARRY) LEE
"A militia when properly formed are in fact the people themselves...and include all men capable of bearing arms...To preserve liberty it is essential that the whole body of people always possess arms... The mind that aims at a select militia, must be influenced by a truly anti-republican principle."- RICHARD HENRY (LIGHT HORSE HARRY) LEE
So, my question is, are we to be considered citizens if we refuse to carry arms? Should your organization not be pursuing these people? Are these not the true citizens of these United States, for they are not shirking their duty to their fellow citizen? Last, but not least, do you carry your own personal arms, and if not, given what these founders stated regarding the second amendment, personal rights which are guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution, who are you to try to get citizens involved? I have no bone to pick here. I do not know your total political philosophy having only seen you for the first time tonight (4/5/06) on Tucker Carlson's show on MSNBC.

Property v. People
I am aware that there are many who wince at a distinction between property and persons--who hold both sacrosanct. My
views are not so rigid. A life is sacred. Property is intended to serve life, and no matter how much we surround it with rights and
respect, it has no personal being. It is part of the earth man walks on; it is not man. - MLK

Posted by: Joe at April 8, 2006 11:48 AMHi Flavia. I must preface this by saying that I do support the troops. I really DID NOT want to go to war. It was a life passage that I didn't want to enter into again. I had friends who fought in Viet Nam and that was enough for me. You see, when I was 18 I met Lyndon Johnson and was too afraid to speak out. It was in downtown Detroit and he was coming out of the Book Cadillac Hotel. I was on my way to the bus stop after buying a pair of shoes. I saw a small group of people at the entrance of the hotel and went over to ask what was happening. A man said that Johnson was on his way out and did I want to meet him and shake his hand. I said, "sure." Since I'm tall also, he and I looked eye to eye. He would have been taller if he didn't have such bowlegs. His hands were huge and he had a big handshake that I could actually feel. I don't remember actually what I said besides "hi," but it really wasn't worth a damn. I had my chance to at least tell him to end the war, but didn't. I felt he wanted a way out though. I felt that then.
When the first soldier died in Iraq I cried and cried. I cried because the reality of a war that seemed to come so quickly without thoroughness (if there is such a word) was real. Some parent's child was dead. I vowed to write a poem about crying for the soldiers who are not just numbers. Here it is below:
I Cried For A Soldier Today
I cried for a soldier today.
. . . And it's not the first tear I've shed
For a soldier that's dead.
I feel anguish every time Bush sins
Since he refuses to pay the Cost
For every life lost
Because we are engaged
In a war that he waged.
I cried for a soldier today.
Unfortunately Bush wants to stay the course.
The “course,” is another class I think
He's flunking.
Who are the course instructors?
There's Rumsfeld (see no evil),
Cheney (hear no evil)
And Rice (speak no evil).
I cried for a soldier today.
I wept for the loss of a life
Of a soldier who has children
Or a husband or wife
So I cry like a mother, father, and lover
Or a sister or brother
Any lover of man and womankind
I cry, I whine . . .
I cried for a soldier today.
We've stepped too far
Over that line in the sand
That his daddy drew.
False profits tell us we're winning.
While grinning they announce,
“It's war, stupid!
That's why people die.”
But can't I ask why?
Why did we wage war on a lie?
Why didn't we send enough soldiers
To win the peace?
Why didn't we have a plan?
Mr. Bush, did you cry for a soldier today? Yesterday?
ANY DAY?
How can you sleep and not weep?
What promises do you keep
While mothers and fathers
Cry for a soldier everyday?
And everyone who loves a soldier cries
Everyday.
We absolutely still don't know why.
George W, if you never tell
Us anything else
At least tell us . . .
When the mission will really be accomplished.
Tell us . . .
So, we can dry our eyes.
Did you cry for a soldier today?

Thank you, Brenda, for asking questions and letting your conscience guide you to action. Morale is hurt by lies, not by people who care, think, and act accordingly.
I received your e-mail regarding Citizen Hunter, and also remember the correspondence we had during the 2004 election. In reading some of your articles regarding the Democratic Party and reaching out to religious voters, you made some great points, and since you have been a student of religion, I wanted to express some ideas which hopefully will be helpful to Democrats in the future.
One of the biggest differences between the two parties has to do with religion. Despite claims by many conservatives, however, it is not the Democratic Party which is hostile to religion. It is the Republican Party, or certainly the vast majority of conservatives within the party that are truly hostile to Freedom Of Religion. Democrats understand that by and large, we are One Nation Under God. We just don't all worship God in the same manner. They realize that voluntary prayer in our public schools is alive and well, and that no constitutional amendments, such as Ernest Istook's Religious Equality Amendment (which thankfully has not been recently proposed again) would take away religious freedom for all Americans.
Democrats understand that the 14th Amendment to the U. S. Constitution extends to state, county, parish and municipal governments, including public school districts, the responsibility to uphold the Bill Of Rights. This is not a misreading of the 1st Amendment (as Rush Limbaugh described it in his book, The Way Things Ought To Be), it is an affirmation of the 1st Amendment, a "strict construction" of the Constitution if there ever was one! Democrats also understand why the Bill Of Rights was placed in the Constitution: to protect the rights of the minority from the tyranny of the majority. In the context of religion, it means that citizens of one faith or denomination of one faith cannot exercise Freedom Of Religion at the expense of citizens of a different faith, a different denomination, or to those citizens who are of no faith or denomination. If the freedom is denied to one citizen, it is denied to all citizens. That may be tough standard, and it doesn't sit well with conservatives, but it must be maintained without question, and without constitutional amendment!
I believe this was the reasoning of the Supreme Court's majority opinion in 1962 in the case of Engel V. Vitale. Conservatives criticize this decision, saying it made God unconstitutional. Yet it was President Kennedy, who after the decision, reasonably pointed out that children were still allowed to pray in school, whether before classes, during lunch or recess, or even stay after school to pray. And if there were students or faculty who preferred not to pray at school, he encouraged families to pray together at home or at church. What was ruled unconstitutional was mandatory prayers requiring participation of all students, regardless of their religious background. Freedom Of Religion, as defined in this country, implies the right of all students, all citizens, to worship God in accordance with their own religious beliefs and practices, and for those who choose not to believe to have that right as well. As such, believers and non-believers have the same rights under the Constitution.
Supporters of a School Prayer Amendment have insisted that it is not coercive. They have obviously forgotten the effects of peer pressure, and are being dangerously naive. As Ted Sorenson stated in his book Why I'm A Democrat, no student should be forbidden from praying on his or her own, or in groups. Nor should a student or teacher be subject to peer and teacher pressure, by embarrassment, intimidation or coercion, into participating in a prayer contrary to his or her own religious beliefs and practices.
The case that have made news since the Engel decision all involve disputes between citizens of one faith, who are in the majority in a town or school district, and those of a minority faith, whether it be a Christian denomination or those of a different faith. Without getting into the details, people should look into the case of Lisa Herdahl and the Pontotoc County, Mississippi School District (one which conservatives were silent on), and the case of Santa Fe Independent School District V. Roe, as well as a case involving Judge Hamilton of the U. S. 9th Circuit Court Of Appeals and the Byron, California School District. I point out that last case because Judge Hamilton's decision in supporting that school district's actions was inexcusable, and showed a lack of understanding of the 1st and 14th Amendments. It was also one of the rare cases where the ACLU and the ACLJ should have worked together.
The Santa Fe Case was one of the reasons I did not vote for President Bush. His actions as Governor of Texas on this case showed a lack of understanding of the Constitution, especially the 1st and 14th Amendments. His choices of federal judges at the district, appellate and Supreme Court may have long term effects, as his "strict constructionist" nominees favor a less strict construction of separating church and state, a construction which could be adverse to religious minorities and go against what the Bill Of Rights stands for. Religious freedom has been placed beyond majority rule.
Conservatives in the media often say the United States is a Christian Nation, that it was founded as a Christian Nation. I have no doubt that what the Founding Fathers learned from reading the Bible had a considerable influence on creating the Declaration Of Independence and the U. S. Constitution. Yet neither document states the U. S. as being a Christian Nation. In fact, both documents are decidedly neutral on the subject of religion, and in being so make the U. S. one of the most religious nations in the world.
Please do not think I am hostile to religion. On the contrary, I am a churchgoer, and was baptized in a Disciples Of Christ Church. And my decisions to attend church and read the Bible did not come from a governmental body. But I also respect the rights of my friends, colleagues and fellow citizens who are of different religious backgrounds to enjoy the same rights that I do, without fear of being forced to do something contrary to their beliefs. I believe that the conservative position on this issue is hostile to the religious freedoms all Americans enjoy, and that it even violates Jesus own teachings on the Bible (Matthew 6, Verses 5 and 6). In his book Don't Know Much About The Bible, Kenneth Davis points to this verse in an appendix and points out how Jesus teaching for proper prayer is antithetical to what conservatives espouse. He couldn't be more accurate.
I hope this articulates the issue for Democrats, who have had difficulty getting this message to those voters in Red States. Thanks again!
It was asked of Albert Einstein (in a test of his vast knowledge) “what is the capital of Montana?” … He didn’t know … he stated “that is reference material” ..”if I needed to know that, I would just look it up” ...“I work in the realm of visionary concepts …not of static reference material”
Do you understand the point he makes here? Our school system teaches in a “rote” paradigm.
Rote learning, is a learning technique which avoids grasping the inner complexities and inferences of the subject that is being learned and instead focuses on memorizing the material so that it can be recalled by the learner exactly the way it was read or heard. In other words, it also means ……learning just for the test.
I profess to you … that it is our current teaching methodology that produces the low level of understanding complex issues we confront in our daily lives.

National Center for Strategic Social Initiatives org (NCSSI) was conceived of a self mandate to address the social issues in our communities. It is a novel and “working” visionary concept of a “social doctrine” whose end product is in the form of social initiatives.
NCSSI was conceived in response to presidential executive order 13199. This executive order states in “essence” that government is a poor source of problem resolution for our communities and makes an explicit call to those organizations to come forth with knowledge to their resolve.
Our contemporary government is a lumbering albatross to social issue resolve, inherently loaded down under its own weight of political lobbyist and corruption, circumventing the attempts of effective community advancement. The social doctrine of NCSSI effectively removes the government from the “social initiatives design” of social initiatives, leaving government truly as “servant” of the community, functioning in performing set procedures and enforcement functions only.
By design and application, all the social initiatives of NCSSI are presented to the community with the express condition of “measurable results” to the effectiveness of the initiatives design. This is unique in that a qualitative assessment is taken from the community of the target issue before and after the initiative, with the results contributing to an overall documented audit trail of the social benefits to the community.
NCSSI is a dynamic repository of community issues, and affording “cause and effect” analysis for the sole purpose to design “real time” and “dynamically adaptive” social initiatives to effect their resolve, thus, raising the “quality of life” in our communities.

In a teaching session, the software continuously monitors your child’s progress step by step, line for line, advancing to higher levels as the information is understood or immediately reinforcing areas of less comprehension.
In our vast world of knowledge the best method of teaching is where you “teach the child” to “teach themselves” … all this can be done in a fashion that captures the child’s imagination and never lets go.

LM -community district
Lower Merion - a blue print for a community district (concept draft)
Rick Liberatoscioli, Ardmore
In Re: How Much New Construction is enough?
So rare does a commentary profoundly envelop the effects of both our ever growing capitalistic economy to the social and economic diversity of our “people” who make up the “community” of Lower Merion. … Well done!
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
In your statement:
“It’s ok for the middle and working class to work in Lower Merion, just not live there. What's next? Street signs indicating number of miles to Chester and Coatesville (because if you can't afford a McMansion, that is where you are going to have to live).”
………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
The capitalistic economy within our community cares not of its diversity of its people but solely of its monetary return. History shows us, by nature … they are mutually exclusive.
I feel you have shown us the inevitable and tragic destiny of the”low and middle income” people of Lower Merion in your commentary …. but, to no resolve.
As stated by Lower Merion Township commissioner Maryam W. Phillips “the people of my district can now barely afford to even live in Ardmore anymore … we need affordable housing for our community now!”.
The dilemma being … there are no more tracts of land to do this in Lower Merion. The ability of Lower Merion’s low and middle income community to “live” in Lower Merion is fatalistic.
One of the commissioners, in essence, replied….Don’t worry Mary, were going to throw your people a bone or two …. Its just that the developers aren’t interested in “affordable housing” … even with the incentives we offer them.
This will not change the inevitable outcome of its low and middle income community.
It can be seen that there is no effective resolve to this major issue for our community from the commissioners.
Lower Merion Township today stands at the cross roads of either committing its destiny to an already “out-dated” and socially detrimental community paradigm costing us multi-millions of dollars each year or to set a mandate of itself of being the first community in the nation for all to follow in an unprecedented community revitalization initiative.
National Center for Strategic Social Initiatives org (NCSSI) submits the following initiative for a community resolve (draft concept).
This proposed concept from NCSSI incorporates a novel and comprehensive community initiative not only for its commercial revitalization but also includes a MANDATED revitalization of its core diversity of residents and their ability to live in the same community thru truly affordable housing.
This is nothing less that a community initiative “intervening” the socially and economically exclusive “effects” of its expanding commerce to serve the greater needs of all its community.
Lower Merion Township has reached a state of physical saturation in both its towns’ community business district and in its areas of “affordable housing”.
Walk in any library today, and you will see the large print/book isles empty and the computer work stations full. Our public schools today also see computer workstations as the best access to educational resources.
With the staggering projected building costs now exceeding well over $200 million dollars Lower Merion Township is re-investing in an educational paradigm already “out-dated” before it is even built. This is not including salaries of over 1000 teachers and support staff year after year. I submit to you this is “the tail wagging the dog”.
Lower Merion School District - including all buildings, busses, employees, etc. to be rapidly phased out of existence.
In our world today of global high speed data communications and superb educational software customizable down to the individual needs of your own child, can today be afforded at negligible costs while providing far superior educational levels over our current system.
The massive amount of “Township owned land” (schools) would now be available for truly “affordable housing” for the Lower Merion community.
Now … if that doesn’t get Commissioner Phillips up and doing the “Huckly -buck” …… she just don’t dance!!

Other than that I love your website.
My heart is torn in two-
How can it be that I love two men?
Both so wonderful-yet so different;
Must I choose - the Gentleman or the Scoundrel?
The Gentleman touches my heart,
With his poetic words and sweet manner;
He protects me and gives me his love;
I am cherished - a princess in his arms.
He would never do me harm,
I trust him with my innocent heart.
His touch on me is always gentle,
His love for me is undisputed and strong
The Scoundrel thrills my soul,
He's so witty, so sexy and smooth;
His kisses fill me with longing,
He teases me and laughs when I blush.
His voice makes my knees weak,
He makes me feel naughty and ripe;
I spend my nights in his arms,
And my days dreaming of our nights.
It would break my heart to choose,
So much love, divided between two.
To lose either would leave me grieving,
For both have taken residence in my heart.
I'm glad I don't have to choose,
These two...they are one and the same.
A perfect mixture of the man I need.
My Gentleman - my Scoundrel - my heart's love.
Spending millions and millions of taxpayer dollars and now raising the school tax by $600 more to all the Lower Merion Township residents ….. this is nothing less sheer insanity!
The Township is investing millions of dollars in an already “out dated” and “grossly inefficient” public school system paradigm before it is even built.
I submit we stop all plans immediately for building new schools. The current schools can perform their functions “as is” for at least another 10 years. A special community based committee to be formed to access the merits of a new teaching paradigm for our children in all aspects of their learning environment.
Our schools have served its purpose for its time, by now can be replaced with “state of the art” academic (teaching) software that affords a virtual “one to one” highly interactive audio/video master instructor just for your child. In our vast world of knowledge the best method of teaching is where you “teach the child” to “teach themselves” … all this can be done in a fashion that captures the child’s imagination and never lets go.
The computer workstations in the home can offer far advanced teaching to your child and at negligible cost to the community.
This is the only community initative ever proposed that replaces our current teaching methods and infastructure with one far exceding the levels of education of our children at a fraction of the cost now.

Is this the crazy richard blog or citizen hunter? I'm confused, Flavia, and concerned that you would have crazy unfounded bizarre rantings of a delusional person up here...but maybe you need a good giggle...I wouldn't give him your phone number, though....
Like an unchecked cancer, hate corrodes the personality and eats away its vital unity. Hate destroys a man's sense of values
and his objectivity. It causes him to describe the beautiful as ugly and the ugly as beautiful, and to confuse the true with the false
and the false with the true. - MLK
I don't follow politics as much as I should. This site is a great resource, very easy to use, and I can stay up to date on current political topics and get to do something about it. It also makes me want to learn more. Thank you
