Over 5 and half million more people volunteered their time last year than the year before -- Citizen Hunting is clearly in season. Hats off to Utah (and to one of our proud CH's) for pointing out that they led the country, with 48% of their residents 16 and up giving their time to charitable causes.

Hey Joe,
Thanks for the post. I am glad you enjoyed the blog. I will definitely be posting more comments and predictions throughout the World Cup Tournament. Hopefully, my analysis and predictions are correct and knowledgeable. I have always like futbol, and I played when I was growing up but had to give it up because of healh problems. In any event, the European teams are amazing, especially Spain which is where my allegiance is. I am stunned you found my blog as not too many people read it but its good that it is getting widespread. Yours is great too. Thanks again and I look forward to reading.

Thanks for the encouragement, Joe!
Great work!
Animal shelters are always looking for volunteers to come down and walk the dogs, feed and water them, and basically have a good time with the little critters. There is nothing to sign up for, and you can only visit once if you like. Think about it and give your local shelter a call.

Posted by: Maria at July 1, 2006 02:44 PMJust to ride my own hobby horse: Habitat Philadelphia is always looking for people to help out. Signing up for a day build is a great experience that everyone will benefit from. You choose your level of experience and involvement.
